Battle Squadron ONE now on the App Store

Our highly acclaimed Amiga classic achieving an amazing 109% rating is now available on the App Store for iOS devices. The press said the following about the original:
109% – “Now Battle Squadron is the best“, Amiga Computing (2:10)
90% – “It’s expert execution and addictive playability“, Info (31)
87% – “It’s rapid-fire animation, coupled with effective sound and a long running music track“, The Games Machine (25)
85% – “I love the graphics of this game“, Zzap (58)
90% – “Battle Squadron is so addictive that you just can’t stop playing“, The One Amiga (56)

For the iOS version we have conserved the highly praised gameplay exactly like on the original, while at the same time adapting it to excellent play on mobile devices. Further improvements, not possible in the original, include Game Center to compete against your friends, and Daily Leaderboards updates with player comments.
We have truly managed to make this a great playing experience. Feedback on the beta-version of Battle Squadron ONE says it all:

    I’m a big fan of the theme of Battle Squadron and i want to make a cover on keyboard and maybe guitar so where can i find the tab please ?

    Hey awesome job getting the game out in the Apps store… I have a Nokia E7, would the App be available for the E7? or is it just Iphones etc….. getting ready to tear up from bad news I may get * :P

      Hi again Zro Dfects, Thanks for that :-) Right now the focus is on iOS and we have a few more things planned here. After that, porting Battle Squadron ONE to other systems should be a lot easier that this first conversion. In the meantime, I think we will make you an “honorary spokesperson” for Battle Squadron :-)

        Hey thanks…. an “honorary spokesperson” you say? hmm sounds great. I would do anything for you guys. Ever since I found this site knowing you guys are re-releasing the the best 2 games on the planet “Battle Squadron & Hyrbis” brought back instant memories of the Amiga days, and as you might now know about me that Amiga was an awesome time for me, something that can’t be explained or re-invented again unless it was all forgotten about and started all over again with no changes whatso-ever.

        I recently moved into my newly built house with a dedicated cinema room, just had a 110″ screen put onto the wall and I still have my original Denon audio setup and 105cm high speakers that I have owned ever since I was in high school and even had Hyrbis and Battlesquadron played through them when I first had them, I was really able to appreciate the quality of the Amiga audio, and Hybris and Battle Squadron was always a perfect audio tester to show people :)

        Also when your ready to get some Beta testers for Hybris, let me know, I will buy an IPAD so I can be there for ya :) . Even the name sounds awesome H-Y-B-R-I-S :) , not sure what it actually means but I am guessing it is along the lines of pride and honour in some way…

        Anyways.. Keep up the awesome work as usual.. If people don’t know who you guys are by now then they shouldn’t be playing games.

          Hi Zro,
          Thanks. :) Sounds like quite a house you’ve got yourself there :) With a 110″ screen you are not going to miss a pixel i would say. :D
          The word Hybris is from greek mythology, although it does not have a direct meaning in the game.
          There may be a brief beta testing fase for BS ONE version 2.0 with 2 player mode and even better controls, before Hybris beta testing. A reason not to wait on an iOS device.. :)

      Hi Damien,
      The original Amiga cheat “CASTOR” will not work in the iOS version, although we did have a cheat-mode with “tilt” control during beta testing. It has however been deactivated to my knowledge in the final release. Currently the “Cadet” mode is a lot easier than the original Amiga difficulty mode, that one could argue that being semi-cheating. Maybe the next update will re-activate the beta-testing cheat mode :)

        Ahah yeah, I used to play with this cheat cauz i was only 7 years old so it was too difficult for me but i remember my father couldn’t finish the game without the magic word :p
        I’ll try to finish it without cheat but i have to train with the iOS version, it’s very different that a joypad..
        But when i heard “tchi tchitchitchi tchitchitchi tchitchitchi WELCOME TO BATTLE SQUADRON” i had a very big smile :D

    Thanks a million for all the great reviews of Battle Squadron ONE from throughout the world :-) I hope they will very, very soon become visible on the App Store (right now I only see them in iTunes Connect… developer site). If you have an opinion about BS ONE, good or bad, then please let everybody else hear on the App Store. Thanks in advance :-) Martin

    Just a weird idea I guess but what about the possiblity to play BS1 with Hybris musics and vice-versa. Of course you should be able to choose between them, I’d like to test that to see how it feel :)

    Wow have you seen the highscore? There’s some real aviators out there.
    That lead me to think about iPod/iPhone vs iPad is both of those categories ranked on the same leaderboard ? I don’t own an iPad but I assume that the game is “easier” with it no?
    If true then rankings may not be fair :)

      Yes, the players caught on really fast on Battle Squadron ONE… maybe some practiced on the Amiga… I will have a hard time keeping up myself ;-)
      Yes, BS ONE is probably easier on iPad, but not that much. It will probably be simpler to just keep it all together in one list…

    It has been a long beta period, an even longer development time, one day maybe BS1 will be in the top 100, that would be really really cool!
    Did bought it too, if you like it do a review on the AppStore, I already did but we need more.

    Now I’ve to beat the first highscore :)

      Hi Kamel, Yes it has taken us a bit longer to make Battle Squadron ONE as good on iOS as we should it should be… about twice as long actually ;-)

      We would be most happy if as many of you join in on App Store for reviews to support Battle Squadron ONE. Thanks :-)
